Fannish New Year's Resolutions

I found my fannish New Years resolutions from last year's thread on Stickhandled and decided to do the thing

 

2015 New Years Resolutions:

1) STAY OFF TUMBLR

I've...actually met a surprising amount of these??? I was not expecting this. I actually deleted the Tumblr app from my phone and have stayed strong in not re-uploading it. It helps that tumblr seems to be actively chasing away its user base. It's new format is incomprehensible.  

2) finish the fics languishing in my drafts folder, they're out lined and everything OTL

 I always have more fics that I will ever finish in my drafts folder, but I think I'm starting to sort through the ideas better, and realize that not every single one can be a fully-fledged story, I don't actually have the time or the energy.  I did, however, finish my first Big Bang, which I am really proud of even if I can't stand to look at it. 

    2.5) write porn without being really fucking hammered


         2.5.5) write things that have an actual plot and are not *just* porn


 I'm actually really proud that I wrote all the porny bits of Handprints & Good Grips  + Eyes Shut Fingers Open without judicious applications of shitty wine! I really hate writing porn, but I always felt like it's something that I should include in fic if I wanted anyone to read what I was writing. (Also, writing porn is super difficult and I wanted to train so mine was at least passable) I realize that this isn't true, and obviously If I hate writing it that shit's gonna be visible from space. But I'm proud I could eventually do it sober, just like I'm even more proud of the fact that I wrote fics with actual plotlines, that had little to no sex in them. Amazing how much more I enjoy writing when I'm working on projects I actually like! 


3) live better in general


Honestly, 2015 was real shitty for me. But it was also the year of me making amazing, talented, and kind friends in fandom, and I wouldn't change that bit for anything. 



2016 Fannish Resolutions: 

1) Continue to write things with actual plots

2) Only write the stories that I'm really invested in, not every idea I have

3) Write more ladies 2k16! I used to write a lot of femslash and I miss it..

4) Take a fucking break. I wrote 73,000+ words in 2015, which is nearly triple the amount I wrote in 2014. This coming semester I'm probably going to be a lot less active, and stop signing up for every single exchange so I can graduate in May and get a real job.

Anyways, here's to meeting new friends, reading new fics, and Boldly Going in 2016. 2015, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
