Fan Rec Friday 10: Recced & Totaled

The Fics:
1) This Small Magic by miraow (Hockey RPF) 7k Sid/Geno
A ballet AU that isn't about Midsummer's Night Dream??? Be still my heart. Clearly a labor of love, in the sense that the author knows and loves both ballet, and the city of Toronto. I'm always surprised by the lack of dance/ballet fics because it's a narrative just built for drama, even if this fic keeps it fairly lowkey and full of fuzzy holiday warmth. There's lots of fun insidery stuff about living in Toronto that I loved- I'm such a sucker for fics that are really grounded in a specific place- and there's a lot of fun 'spot the hockey player' cameos in the members of the corps. Go read it!
2) As Long As We Have We by lady_ragnell (Merlin) 17k Merlin/Arthur
URGH I LOVE THIS FIC A LOT. It's so warm and lovely in tone, and a double-whammy of found-family feelings and holiday feelings that team up to punch me straight in the heart. I love this characterization of Arthur, someone fundamentally good painted with this shade of loneliness, and Merlin was a perfectly cheery and ridiculous complement. It's also a good ensemble piece! All the friends and side-characters get their own moments, which really make the world feel whole.
3) Dramatic Arts by scioscribe (Spectre) 3k James Bond/Q
Honestly the author's summary says it best: "In which Spectre is actually Bond's poorly written attempt at falsifying a mission report." I was actually laughing out loud on my bus, 10/10 just what I needed after that tire fire of a movie.

Basically what is says on the tin. Point and click to slap James Tyrannosaurus Kirk in the face, then tally your slaps per min (sph). Excellent finals stress relief, 10/10 recommend.

Featuring, among other things:
-Heechul dressed like a sexy librarian circa 2002
-Vintage camera-whore Jae
-Yoochun saying the words "Bling Bling Ballz" with 500% too much enthusiasm and sobriety
-Proof that Hankeng once existed
-More tragically fringed scarves than I can count on one hand
-Actual fetus Kyunhyun
-Kangin & Yunho's matching frosted tips
-Donghae lipsynching with more passion than accuracy
- The crushing realization that none of them know about the lawsuit that will tear the fabric of their friendship apart ahahahahahahah I'm fine
